According to the amended cyber crime law of the United Arab Emirates Clicking on someone’s pictures in public without permission will be punished with six months imprisonment in the UAE or a fine of 150,000 to 500,000 dirhams or both.
The UAE’s revised cybercrime law will provide greater security for citizens and residents in the growing digital age. The new law, which will take effect on January 2, 2022, will impose stricter penalties for certain crimes, such as damaging data systems in the banking, media, health and science sectors.
The new law protects Internet users from electronic fraud and protects their privacy and rights. It empowers the court to confiscate devices, software, content, or other means used in crime.
One of the major changes in the new law is that it involves taking photos or videos of people in public places, which has now been made a punishable offense.
