There is a risk of spreading rapidly spreading Indian COVID 19 strain in Sri Lanka; Dr Sudath Samaraweera, Head of the Epidemiology Unit said.
Also, there is a greater chance of this Indian virus entering the country due to the involvement of fishermen from India and the Sri Lankan fishing community in the deep sea he further added.
He points out that the spread of this new strain of the virus has accelerated and that more than one person is at risk of infection from one person.
Therefore, the authorities should pay attention to the risk of the Indian variety coming to Sri Lanka through the fishing community.
