12 projects supported by Japan have been suspended due to Sri Lanka’s inability to pay its debts due to the declaration of bankruptcy.

 The Minister of Ports, Navigation and Aviation Mr Nimal Siripala de Silva revealed this in Parliament.

” Especially the JICA organization came and met me and handed over a letter. Japan has declared that our country is bankrupt and we cannot pay our debts, so until the IMF comes and makes a road map on this matter, not only this Taisei project but 12 projects supported by Japan and JICA have been suspended. . Suspended does not mean cancelled. It has been temporarily stopped. According to the measures taken by the IMF organization regarding the restructuring of this debt with us, they will give us that money again.” He said
