The Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka-The imposed import restrictions have not yielded the desired results – National Audit Office

The National Audit Office says that although the import of certain goods has been restricted with the aim of keeping the exchange in the country in the year 2021, the expected results of the imposition of import sanctions have not been achieved due to the rapid increase in the number of import licenses.

 The National Audit Office reveals this by presenting its observations on the annual performance of the Import and Export Control Department in 2021.

The observation of the National Audit Office is that the 47 percent increase in import license revenue in 2021 compared to 2018, the year before the Covid epidemic, shows that imports are occurring without control
