The Sri Lanka Air Force has announced the departure of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa from the island.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has left the country in a military plane.

Foreign media say that he is currently staying in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. The President left the country in an Air Force Antonov 32 aircraft.

The President’s wife and a security officer have also left the country.
