Bloomberg news agency reports that India has requested advance money for fuel supply to Sri Lanka.
According to Indian sources, the news agency has stated that this notification has been made after the end of the loan facility provided by India to Sri Lanka for obtaining fuel.
The report further claims that due to the lack of foreign reserves to buy fuel due to the economic crisis faced by Sri Lanka, India has suspended further lending of fuel to Sri Lanka.
The news service says that the Sri Lanka Petroleum Corporation has also taken steps to detain several fuel ships that are due for payment until payment is made.
However, the report further states that the next four fuel tankers which are said to be available to Sri Lanka are awaiting confirmation of advance payment.
