Prices of 60 drugs increased

A special gazette notification has been issued increasing the prices of 60 drugs by 40%. It is signed by the Minister of Health Prof. Channa Jayasumana.

Accordingly, a manufacturer or importer selling a scheduled drug will be able to increase the revised retail price proportionately by a whopping 40%.

Under the maximum retail price of a 500 mg tablet of paracetamol is 4 rupees 16 cents.

The maximum retail price of a 375 mg tablet of amoxicillin will be 83 rupees and 71 cents.
