The Medical Research Institute says that the Omicron Crowd variety may become the leading Covid variety in the country in the future.



Dr Nadeeka Janage, a specialist in viral diseases at the institute, said that the Omicron variant is now spreading across the country, surpassing the Delta variant.



“The Delta variant still exists. But mostly the omicron variant. About this omicron, we are predicting that the proliferation will be rapid and that this will surpass the delta. That situation has arisen. If we test, most have omicron. But the Delta variety also has some spread. At some point, the delta may become too small and become the main variant of omicron. We’ve seen that in countries like England and the United States. ” he said.
