Chamari Atapattu in ahead in the top list

Chamari Atapattu, captain of the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team, has been named in the top 10 in the women’s 20-20 batting rankings.  Accordingly, Chamari, who was ranked 14th, was ranked 8th on the list. The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement that she had scored 24, 86, 57, 30 and 48 points respectively in the recent 2022 Commonwealth Games qualifiers.

Biden warns President Putin about a world war

US President Joe Biden has issued a warning to Russian President Putin. Speaking to the media, the US President has said that if Russia invades Ukraine, it will be the largest invasion since World War II. The US President has stated that if such an invasion takes place, personal sanctions may have to be imposed on the Russian President. Meanwhile, Britain has warned of a plot to overthrow the pro-Moscow government in Ukraine. The British Foreign Secretary has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking steps to use former Ukrainian parliamentarian Yvonne Murayev for this purpose. The British Foreign Secretary said in a statement that Russia should end its aggression and misinformation-based actions and pursue a diplomatic course. Russia has denied that it is planning an invasion, although it has deployed hundreds of thousands of troops near Ukraine’s border.

Fuel required for power generation are available only for today.

The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the stocks of diesel and fuel required for power generation are available only for today. The diesel supplied to the Kelanitissa power plant will expire today, said Board Spokesman Andrew Navamuni. He said that the Sapugaskanda and Colombo port floating power plants have fuel only for today. He says that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has already been informed about this and accordingly, if diesel and fuel are not received today, the electricity will have to be cut off.

146 billion printed in the first 25 days of this year its 6 billion a day

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has reprinted 26 billion rupees. Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued 146 billion new currency notes in 2022.  That is to say, measures have been taken to print nearly 6 billion rupees a day for a period of 25 days. Tissa Attanayake, a Member of Parliament for the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) says that three and a half trillion rupees have been newly printed under new government.  He said that there is information that there are no sheets to print the rupee and there are no dollars to import those notes.  He said this while he was speaking to the media after a ceremony.

IDH Hospital Filled Up with covid patients – Oxygen Demand Increasing rapidly

Dr Hasitha Attanayake, Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases says that the capacity of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases is being exceeded due to the spread of the coronavirus. A strike in Western hospitals

The Joint Federation of Paramedical Professionals has commenced a strike in all hospitals in the Western Province from 7 am today (26).  Its chairman Ravi Kumudesh said that the strike was being carried out in protest of the non-intervention of any party in resolving the issue of salary anomalies in the paramedical and paramedical services and the nursing service. “A strike will be launched this morning at 7.00 am by the Federation of Health Professionals in Paramedical, Paramedical and Nursing services. We have decided to hold this strike in all hospitals in the Western Province.” He said

Billions of rupees wasted in the Railway department

Trade Union Alliance has revealed that billions of rupees of public money has been wasted by importing new train carriages in unnecessary quantities at an inopportune time. “These 160 compartments were taken under the Indian Loan Assistance Scheme These orders were placed in the years 2017,2018. However, even though the former government ordered it, these compartments were brought in on 160 occasions until the end of 2021. There is not enough space to park these 160 boxes in the Maligawatta yard and the compartments are parked in these compartments in remote areas especially in areas like Jaffna and Kannasanthurai. These 160 compartments have not been brought for the needs of the Railway Department. Then these 160 boxes have a lot of shortcomings. ” he said The convener of the UPFA A.S Vithanage stated this at a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday (25).

The resumption of operations at the Sapugaskanda oil refinery has been postponed until the 30th

The resumption of operations at the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be further delayed, the Ministry of Energy said. Secretary to the Ministry Ms.D. R. 570 kilos of iron wire belong to Maharagama public toilet sold to a scrap metal shop

 The Maharagama Police have found a stock of iron wires in the Maharagama Public Toilet which had been demolished and sold to a scrap metal shop. The Chairman of the Maharagama Municipal Council recently demolished the Maharagama Public Toilet. Police have found 570 kilos of wire in the area. The stock of wire was found during a police investigation following a complaint received by a group of employees of the Municipal Council that a group of employees of the Municipal Council had sold a stock of wire in a lorry.

China rejects Sri Lanka’s request for one million tons of rice

China has denied a claim by the Sri Lankan government that China will donate one million metric tons of rice to Sri Lanka. Speaking to an English newspaper, a Chinese diplomat said that such a request had been made by Sri Lanka but China had rejected the request. Cabinet Spokesman Ramesh Pathirana said at a media briefing before that the stock of rice is being received at the request of Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Rubber Rice Agreement signed between Sri Lanka and China. A spokesman for the Ministry of Trade told the newspaper that the donation would be made shortly and that the Chinese government had agreed and that no change had been made. If the relevant stock of rice is received, it will be sufficient to meet the rice requirement of the country for five months.
