A suspect was remanded for breaking the leg of a lawyer by beating him with an iron rod

Nugegoda Pannaradhana Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday (12) remanded the suspect who was arrested for breaking the leg of a lawyer with an iron rod for burning garbage in an empty land until the 18th of this month.

 The suspect was a resident of Waraketiya, Maharagama.

The suspect was arrested by the Maharagama Police and produced before the court.

The lawyer had burnt the rubbish on the afternoon of the 11th in an empty plot of land between the suspect’s house and the plaintiff’s house.

The lawyer who appeared for the plaintiff pointed out that the suspect who had come there at that time had argued with the lawyer and then had beaten him with an iron rod.

The lawyers  said that one of the lawyers legs had been broken in several places due to the assault and that he was being treated at the Kalubowila Hospital and was due to undergo surgery.
