A label for local liquor

The Excise Department is introducing a safety label on locally produced liquor, said Excise Commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe.

A spokesman for the Excise Department said that the decision was taken to increase the taxes due to the state treasury.

He said that the stock of unnumbered liquor in the market is due to expire before it reaches the market with such security stickers and a period of three months will be given for that.

He says that by the first day of April 2022, this safety sticker is expected on all liquor stocks sold in the entire market island wide. This safety labeling has been implemented on imported liquor for about a year now.
