Human skulls and skeletal remains were found in a land belonging to the Chairman of Avangard Company

The human skulls and skeletal remains were found during excavations for a new construction site at the Aluthgama Sinawatta Welipenna Road resort, which is said to belong to the Chairman of Avangard Company.

They were examined by the Kalutara Nagoda General Hospital Specialist Judicial Medical Officer, Saiyan Amaratagama Laksena Police, at the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.

The premises belong to the Chairman of Avangard The company bought five perches of land about three months ago from a neighbouring Blog Stone business.

Meanwhile, an Avangard official had complained about this to the Aluthgama Police stating that human skulls had been found during an excavation carried out in the area.

Acting Magistrate Bandula Weerasinghe of the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court on the instructions of senior police officers inspected the site of the excavation the day after receiving the complaint, Aluthgama Police and the Kalutara CID said.

The Aluthgama Police said that the Acting Magistrate had suspended the excavations and ordered the police to deploy security at the site.

The police summoned the Kalutara Judicial Medical Officer the next day and ordered the Kalutara CID to seal off the skulls and skeletons found at the scene and take them to the Nagoda Hospital for further investigations.

Police security deployed at the site had been removed after the inspection and permission had been granted to suspend the excavations, police said.

The skulls and skeletons are believed to be several years old, a police official said.
