Vegetable prices in Nuwaraeliya drastically increased

Consumers as well as traders have been severely inconvenienced due to the increase in the prices of up country and low country vegetables at the weekly market in Nuwara Eliya.

At the Nuwara Eliya Sathi Pola, a kilo of up country and low country vegetables sells for Rs. 400 and a kilo of tomatoes for over Rs. 600.

Traders at the Nuwara Eliya weekly market say that business activities have been disrupted due to the increase in vegetable prices.

Traders at the Nuwara Eliya weekly market said that with the shortage of vegetables in the next few weeks, the prices of vegetables could go up further and consumers and themselves would be in a difficult situation.
