China has passed a new law to reduce homework for school children. Authorities in the country say the new education law aims to reduce the pressure on children to engage in extracurricular activities at home after school. Chinese authorities are urging parents to give their children a reasonable amount of time to relax and exercise and not to spend too much time online. China also banned written exams for children ages 6 and 7 last August.

Film and teledrama actress Visakha Siriwardena has passed away. A spokesman for the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital stated that she had died yesterday (23) while being treated for cancer. She was 64 years old at the time of her death. Visakha Siriwardena, who entered the film industry in 1982, is also known as the tallest actress in the country.
