One person will die in every two minutes in the country in near future, Necessary action should be taken to stop new variety entering in to the country – Rukshan Bellana

The Government Medical Officers’ Forum (GMOF) says that one person dies every two minutes if a variant of the corona virus called epicillon enters the country.

Its chairman, Rukshan Bellana, said the information had been found that existing immunizations and vaccinations against the new virus were inadequate.

He said that although this variety has not been reported in the country at present, it is believed that it will spread in the country in the near future and necessary decisions should be taken now.

He added that thousands more lives would be lost to the Epsilon variant than to the Delta variant.
