Residents of the Negombo area staged a protest against Gampaha District Forest Officer Devani Jayatilake.

Residents of the area allege that Devani Jayatilleke helping a businessman who is preparing to build a tourist hotel for a private at a stadium in the area and that she is representing the businessman at the time.

The protest took place when Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda visited the site to inspect the site.

There was strong opposition from the residents of the area when the officer left the scene without commenting to the media.
