President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has approved the import of potassium which is chemical fertilizer.

State Minister of Coconut Development Arundika Fernando states that the President has permitted this as it is an essential fertilizer for coconut cultivation.

However, he added that the import of urea fertilizer has been completely banned and plans are afoot to supply nitrogen required for cultivation.
