The banking system is in Sri Lanka in danger of collapsing

Both Minister of State for Finance Ajith Nivard Cabraal and Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila have confirmed that the country’s banking system is in danger of collapsing if fuel prices are not increased, said Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harsha de Silva.

He said the government should explain what would happen to the deposits of the people who have deposited in the banking system if it is at risk of collapsing.

If the economic situation could not be controlled, it should be handed over to those who could do it or the government should go home and hand over the country to another group, he added.

He made these comments at a press conference held at the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
