The reason for the increase in fuel prices was taking fuel from brokers – Mahinda Pathirana

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Press Council Mahinda Pathirana says that Sri Lanka continue to buy fuel from Singaporean brokers
because they receive commissions from it and it is the reason for the price hike of fuel.

He also said that if the country had an agreement with the OPEC countries to obtain fuel directly, it would have been possible to obtain fuel at a much lower price.

He also alleges that the Ministry of Energy has not taken any new steps to import and refine crude oil in the country.

He says this while leaving a note on his social media account.
