Van crashes into police barrier in Rajagiriya: Two died

Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana said that two people including a Sub Inspector in police in Rajagiriya today (March 23) morning. Policemen were inspecting a mini lorry “Dimo Batta” on the Parliament Road between the Ayurveda round-about when the accident occurred. A 52-year-old Sub Inspector and an assistant of the lorry driver being killed in the incident and the driver of the van has been arrested later.
Wild elephant chase a safari vehicle in Yala national park

A group of young traveller faced a tragical experience after a wild lone elephant case their vehicle. They were following and fillming a wild lone elephant but unexpectedly elephant started to chase turning back. However the driver took appropriate action to make everything safe.
Two female nurses locked inside radiology room at Apeksha Hospital ; Radiographer arrested

A Radiographer attached to the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama arrested for forceful locking of two female nurses. The Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that female nurses lodged a complaint about locking inside the radiology room for almost 1 hour and police are looking to arrest another radiographer over the incident. The nursing staff of the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama strongly objected all the attempt of the hospital administration to cover up the case and noted the how exposure to the radiology material could lead to high risk of cancer, genetic mutations, or even serious illness. The hospital staff requested Health Minister and Ministry Secretary to conduct investigations on the incident and take appropriate action on the case.
Firearm and deer meat found in car; Four people arrested

Four suspects were arrested with a foreign made 12 bore firearm and ammunition. This was found during a search of a speeding car in Pussellawa area. Police said that they had also found 60 kilograms of deer meat in the car. The suspects were residents from Ragala, Nuwara Eliya and Ramboda area. They were produced before the Gampola Magistrate’s Court today (March 21)
Woman caught with Rs. 8 million cash

A 44 years old women was arrested with bag full of 8 million worth cash in palmadulla area and she was unable to explain the source of the cash. Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana states that investigations were conducted on an alert about a suspicious woman who was travelling in a three-wheeler. Further investigations will be conducted to find out if the money was connected to any criminal activity.
Rs 1000 relief pack will be issued from April

Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that government is working on to provide a relief pack through Sathosa outlets and will contain 10 essential food items for 1000 rupees. The aim of giving relief to consumers during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season and will be available at Sathosa branches around the country from April 1st
Elon Musk denies Chinas report on Tesla cars using for spying in China

The Chinas military had raised security concerns about the data collected by cameras installed in the cars and send a roprt after banned Tesla cars from military facilities. The chief executive of the US electric carmaker Tesla Elon Musk said “his firm would be shut down if its vehicles were used for spying on China”.( BBC) “If Tesla used cars to spy in China or anywhere, we will get shut down.” as his car firm first foreign automaker to operate a wholly owned plant in China in 2018. China is the Tesla’s second largest market after the USA according to firm’s global sales report in 2020.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that people should follow proper health advice as they prepare to celebrate the New Year next month. Also he states that all shop owners and managers should maintain their businesses in according to relevant health laws.
Two men sentenced to death for a rape case

A special court in the eastern city of Lahore in Pakistan has sentenced two men to death for a rape which triggered public attention with a comments by a policeman, who questioning women going out in the late night. The court convicted Abid Mehli and Shafqat Ali of gang rape, kidnapping, robbery and terrorism offences yesterday ( March 20) A Pakistani-French woman and her two children stranded on a motorway in their car which had run out of petrol on the road near Lahore. Abid Malhi and Shafqat Ali Bagga came across the two suspects were broke in to car and robbed them and raped the woman in front of her children. Later comments by a policeman, who questioned why the woman had been out late on her own led to series protests around the country.
Missing boy from Ratmalana has returns home safely

A 16 year old boy who was reported missing, has returned home unharmed yesteday evening (March 20). His mother had confirmed his return to the media and his brother confirmed it with an Instagram post. It is reported that he had been staying elsewhere and returned home safely. The Mount Lavinia Police had launched an investigation to find the missing boy after a complaint was lodged by his family since Thursday.
