Brother assaulted 7 years old boy to dead in Kllinochchi
A 7 years old boy has died after assaulted by his 17 years old elder brother in Kilinochchi yesterday 28th February. It was reported that he was dead after he admitted to the Jaffna hospitle for further treatments. According to the post mortem child had died by a blunt force trauma after being attacked with a blunt weapon. The childs mother had kept the child at his uncle’s house and left to Batticaloa. Then the elder brother had accompanied the child to a constructional area outside the uncles resident. Later the child was found unconscious near the construction area and the elder brother was gone missing. Then the child was admitted to the Kilinochchi hospitle and transfered to th Jaffna hospitle later for further treatment. The Kilinochchi police is conducting further investigations on the case.
Tom Moody appointed as Sri Lanka’s Director of Cricket
Former Australia all rounder and one of sri lankas previous coach Tom Moody named as the new director of Sri Lanka cricket. His contracted period of three years is starting from today March 1. He has to undergo a Mandatory Assignment of 300 days during his contract period. He has to Analyse the future tour programs and taking decisions sbout domestic tournament structures as his duties. 2020 A/L results of will be released this April and 2020 O/L examination starts today
Minister of Education Prof G. L. Peiris said that results of the G. C. E. Advanced Level examination for the year 2020 wil reased in this april. Also government is going to take special action to reduce the gap of one and a half years in granting university admission to the candidates.O/L examination will be held in 4513 examination centers from 1st of March to 10th of March. A total of 423746 school cadidates and 198606 privert candidates were going to sit in the exam this year.Also Minister states that the results of this year will be released in june this year.
During anti-coup protests Myanmar 30 people were killed and 30 were wounded
United Nations human rights office reports that around 18 people were dead and 30 were wounded during the protest. Police has set an open fire in tha city of Yangon after they failed to break the crowd with grenades tear gas and shots in the air. A school girl has died after after been beaten by a cane in a witchcraft treatment.
A nine year old shool girl had died after a beated by a cane in Kanduboda area in Meegahawaththa.The girl and her mother went to a “Devalaya ” that belonged to a women for treatment. The women in the treatment centre had anointed some oil before start to beat the girl with a cane. The women done this treatment to dispel the alleged ‘evil spirits’ from the victims body.The child had fainted and had lost consciousnes while she is beaten by the women. The child was in a critical condition and had been admitted to the Biyagama Hospital.The police States that Later the girl was pronounced dead upon admittance to the hospital.post mortem was carried out by the Mahara Acting Magistrate and the women of the treatment center and the girls mother was arrested over the incident.
Two fishermen that were swept away to the Indian waters rescued
In response to a request of Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Sri Lanka Navy pressed into action to locate the dinghy that had gone missing on February 23. Sri Lanka Navy rescue two fishermens along with the dinghy with the facilitation of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at Navy Headquarters today 27 of February. Sri Lanka Navy commenced a special search and rescue operation in the area where the missing dinghy was said to be located. They also get the support by Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Chennai. Then the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Chennai informed to the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in colombo that Indian Coast Guard ship had spotted the missing dinghy in the indian water. It has drifted beyond the International Maritime Boundary Line .The dinghy which had a technical issue and the two fishermens were assisted to the IMBL. Then Sri Lanka Naval Ship Suranimala towed it safely to the shoreward All the rescue operation was carried out with strict health and safety guidelines in due to COVID-19 safety restrictions.
Army rescue teams recover remains of a missing hiker
A group of hikers had climbed Narangala Ridge in Badulla on 26th of February. They had ignored the DMC warning against night camping.Later they had found that one of their team member was gone missing and called police 119 for help. Then the rescue turned to the 112 Brigade seeking assistance of Army rescue teams.Then they had found one of them dead after falling from a 700 ft precipice. The person who died AkalankaPerera was 24 years old and had worked for a privert company in Awissawella. The remains of the person were handed over to the Police.
