Over 1100 suspects were arrested in Western province
1120 suspects were arrested in the western province in a special operation conducted by the police yesterday (March 28) Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon instruct the operation and it was conducted from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm. Among the arrested suspects 47 were involved in crimes, 418 were evading arrest warrant and 549 suspects for their involvement in corrupt activities. All of them will be produced before the Court.
Suez Canal is finally freed from Massive container ship blocking the trade route
. The container ship ” Ever green” that has been stuck in the Suez Canal for six days was reportedly back afloat on yesterday (March28)night. the maritime services provider Inchcape released a social media statement on Twitter saying that Ever Green was successfuly refloated and the ship is secured at the moment. In total of 14 tugs were used to move the ship and more than 950,000 cubic feet of sand removed and dug down nearly 60 feet. It is reported that more than 369 ships were delayed due to this insident. Julie Pomagalski dies in avalanche; Champion snowboarder
Former world champion snowboarder Julie Pomagalski has died in an avalanche at the age of 40 on Thursday ( March 25). French Ministry for Sports confirmed that she had died in Uri canton, Switzerland while she was descending the Gemsstock mountain along with three other people. The reason for the avalanche is yet nof found and but police said rescue team was late to find them. She has became the world champion in snowboard cross in 1999, and won the Snowboard World Cup in 2004.

He further said that people are forced to made new year foods with contaminated edible oil which carries a high risk of cancer because contaminated edible oil imported recently have already reached the market. Two dead sea turtles were found on Weligama beach
Two dead sea turtles have been found in Ganduwa Island on the Weligama beach. Wild life afficers had came to the area and examined the bodies. Wildlife officials stated that two spawning turtles have died after being caught in fishing nets. Also it is reported that stomachs of the dead turtles had also cracked and opened and the eggs had came out. Later wildlife officials buried the two turtles at the Weligama beach.
Sri lankan government will continue to arrest Indian Fishermen; Douglas Devananda
Sri Lankan authorities would continue to arrest Indian fishermen poaching in Sri Lankan waters, Minister Douglas Devananda said. He explained that if they cross the international marintime boundary line and poach sri lankan water government is compelled to arrest them as Sri Lanka’s maritime resources are being damaged by unlawful fishing activities. Both the countries are addressing the problem for more than a decade now but poaching continues despite of all the efforts. Dozens of people are dead ; Mozambique militant assault
Dozens of people are dead following an attack on the town of Palma in northern Mozambique, spokesperson from the country’s defence department said. Seven were killed while trying to escape a siege on a hotel and hundreds of others, including both locals and foreigners, were reportedly rescued. The armed group is reported to have taken control of Palma and the militants launched a attak on Wednesday and the offensive armed group targetted shops banks and a military barraks. with this issue more than 100 workers and civilians took refuge in the town’s Amarula Palma hotel. Some were escaped by vehicles aiming to the nearest beach and reportedly around 20 people were escaped from helicopters. but others were ambushed outside the hotel on Friday. Who were escaped the hotel on Friday and were evacuated by boat on Yesterday (March 28)morning. Boats would be returning on Today (March 29)to rescue others. Civilians living and working in the area co-ordinating the rescue effort. Col Lionel Dyke, whose private security firm, Dyck Advisory Group, is contracted by the Mozambique police in the area explained the situation in the area as” The town and beaches are strewn with bodies with heads and without.” It is reported that Militants linked to the Islamic State (IS) group are behind the conflict.

The gazette notice issued to ban the organizations and it has been signed by Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne. All the banning processes done under the under Regulation 4(7) of the United Nations Regulations No. 1 of 2012. Some of them gwere banned in 2014 but again were de-listed by the Government in 2015 by the existed government Most of the de listed groupes considered as they have moderated their views and they have an intention to attempt to seek their support to development of the North by the former existed government. But, the present government administration considers these groups as still being linked to terrorism and a threat to national security of the sri lanka. Government has banned groups based in UK, Germany, Italy, Malaysia and several other countries. IP dies in a motorbike accident
An Inspector of Police (IP) died after his motorbike he crashed into a a parked bowser today (March 28). Incident occurred at Kalagedihena Junction on the Colombo-Kandy Main Road. The deceased Inspector of Police (IP) was attached to the Gampaha Traffic Division and 36 years old. He is a resident of Nugadeniya. He has been admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital and the driver of the bowser was arrested for parking the vehicle without proper safety protocols.
