Schoolgirl stabbed to death

A schoolgirl who was seriously injured in a stabbing has died today. The victim is a 15-year-old school girl residing in Kantale, Agbopura, Peramaduwa area. The schoolgirl was stabbed while she was at home. A youth who has been identified as a boyfriend has been arrested on suspicion in connection with the incident. The girl’s mother was also at home at the time of the stabbing and police suspect that the suspect had been hiding in the house when the attack took place. The girl who was in a critical condition died at the hospital today while receiving treatment. They arrested a 17-year-old who has been remanded till the 9th of this month after being produced before the Kantale Chief Magistrate.
Another tragic incident – 9-year-old girl died

A little girl who was bathing in the Rakkanawa waterfall in the Nuriya Kirihena area has drowned. The accident took place yesterday (04) morning, police said. The girl drowned while bathing with another group and later succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to the Deraniyagala Hospital. The deceased has been identified as a 9-year-old girl residing in Anhettigama.

The boyfriend jumps to save his girlfriend who fell off the train – video

A young French couple had boarded the Udarata Menike train from Colombo to Badulla yesterday (03) and the girl had suddenly fallen off the train. The Police arrest that heated the court premises

When a group of Ragama Medical Faculty students arrived at the Wattala Courts Complex yesterday (03), a heated situation arose when the police tried to take them away. Amidst the heat, the police took a group of students in a police jeep. When media inquired about this, the police stated that two students were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a third year student of the Ragama Medical Faculty. The group had brought the group to the Ragama Police Station to take statements regarding a complaint lodged by a fourth year medical student who had been hospitalized after being assaulted, police said. He also said that another person involved in the incident was arrested after surrendering to the police. They were later produced before the Wattala Magistrate’s Court where they were released on personal bail of Rs. 500,000 and cash bail of Rs. 2,000 each.
