There will be more Power outages today – CEB

The Ceylon Electricity Board says that there will be power outages in some parts of the island today as well. The CEB says that the power outage could be due to difficulties in meeting the daily requirement or power outages. Meanwhile, power supply to several areas including Colombo was disrupted on several occasions last night. The power supply was disrupted due to a breakdown at a generator at the Kelanitissa power plant.

People’s Bank pays to the Chinese fertilizer ship

People’s Bank today decided to pay US $ 6.9 million to the company that owned the controversial Chinese fertilizer ship. People’s Bank stated that due to the lifting of the enjoining order imposed by the Colombo Commercial High Court, it was decided to pay the amount with the ship. Although the fertilizer ship was not handed over to Sri Lanka, it was stated in court that an agreement had been reached between the two parties to return the standard fertilizer. Accordingly, the money is to be paid to the relevant company through the People’s Bank.

Vaccination of children between 12 and 15 years begins today

Covid vaccination for children between the ages of 12 and 15 will commence from today.  Accordingly, an anti-covid vaccination program will be launched with the involvement of the health and security forces throughout the island. The Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella stated that parallel to the vaccination of school children, those who have not yet received the booster dose will be given the same booster dose at the same places.

A woman mysteriously killed in Horowpathana

Police have found the body of a woman who mysteriously died. Police say that the body was found in the Nikawewa area in Horowpathana.  The woman, who is 5 feet 9 inches tall, is between 55 and 60 years old. According to a report issued by the residents of the area, the body was found in a jungle area in Nikawewa. The magistrate instructed the police to investigate the incident. The woman has not been identified yet and her body has been placed at the Anuradhapura Hospital morgue. Horowpathana Police are conducting further investigations into the death.

Chocolate raid in Nuwara Eliya

Chocolate is a favourite of all of the house no matter we are young or adult. So many people do not pay much attention to the price of chocolate, which is a delicacy. A fraudulent traderĀ  who use this for his trade has been reported from the Nuwara Eliya area. The suspect had forged the price of the chocolate printed on the label and sold the chocolate. A search of a complaint lodged with the Nuwara Eliya Consumer Affairs Authority revealed information about the sale of the chocolate. The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has seized a stock of high demand chocolates prepared by the suspect for sale at fake prices.  The suspect trader has been released on a bond after being summoned to appear before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court on the 13th.

A 24-hour vaccination centre for Katunayake Bandaranyaka International Airport

 The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) says that an injection centre has been set up at the Katunayake Airport with effect from today (07).  Accordingly, Sri Lankans coming to Sri Lanka from foreign countries who have not received the first, second or booster doses can be vaccinated at that location. The Sri Lanka Air Force said that the Pfizer vaccine will be given there. The vaccination centre is operational 24 hours a day at the Katunayake Airport.

Russian troops land in Kazakhstan

Foreign media say that Russian troops have arrived in Kazakhstan. They had gone there at the request of President Qasim Jomar Tokayev. Authorities opposed the protest with all available police forces, special services and the army. ” Liquefied petroleum gas is widely used by the people of the country for vehicles and the price of LPG has doubled since the government decided to remove the subsidy given for it. At the same time, the people started agitating from last Sunday (02). Initially, fuel prices were cited as the main reason, but later the protests intensified with the inclusion of other social issues. The dictatorial president decided to use the army to control the protests, which led to clashes between the two sides. As a result, 18 soldiers and 12 protesters have been reported killed so far. The Kazakhstan security forces said that nearly 3,000 protesters had been arrested so far. Meanwhile, the United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom and France have called on all concerned to refrain from clashes.  Russia, meanwhile, has said it will deploy troops as a peacekeeping force. Russia’s security forces say about 2,500 Russian troops have already arrived in Kazakhstan.

There was a long gas queue in the Ambalangoda area yesterday.  As a result, a lorry belonging to Litro Gas Company was brought to the Ambalangoda Police Station and the gas was sold there. An ambulance was called to the hospital after a man who had been waiting in line for a long time fainted and fell to the ground. The distribution of gas is being carried out with the intervention of the police due to the recent escalation of clashes related to gas queues.
