Renowned Indian actor Anil Kapoor is currently spending time in and around Bentota, Sri Lanka. He is here to shoot for the new production of the Hindi version of the English tele-drama ‘The Night Manager’. Accompanying him is a group of actors including famous actor Aditya Roy Kapoor who are currently touring various places in the Southern Province including Bentota. He has also posted posts on his social media accounts praising Sri Lanka, which has given a boost to the Sri Lankan tourism industry. He posed for a group photo near a temple tree on the Jeffrey Estate, as well as while exercising on the beach.
Diplomat Julie Chung was appointed the new US Ambassador to Sri Lanka
Diplomat Julie Chung was appointed the new US Ambassador to Sri Lanka on Thursday (Feb. 10). She was sworn in by Deputy Secretary of State In front of Wendy R.Sherman. Announcing the appointment of a new US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Sherman said in a Twitter message that Chung’s prestigious career in the State Department and her outstanding leadership would make her the best choice to represent the American people and advance the US-Sri Lanka partnership. She was born in Seoul, South Korea, fluent in Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Khmer, Chung was previously director of the State Department’s Office for Japanese Affairs. She has served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and as Economic Adviser at the US Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. Chung also served as the Transitional Coordinating Chief of Staff at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. She has also served at the U.S. Embassies in Colombia, Vietnam and Japan, and at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou, China. She is also a Pickering Fellow. Chung holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego and a Masters degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Sri Lankan students gets Opportunity to learn 10 foreign languages
Piyal Nishantha de Silva, State Minister of Women and Child Development, Pre-School and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services said that a series of online programs are planned to provide access to foreign language learning for school children in the country. In collaboration with the London School of Executive Limited, UK, the project will enable school children to learn English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and Arabic in accordance with international standards. The Minister of State said that this program is expected to be launched concurrently with the main event to be held on the occasion of Women’s Day. He said this while he was speaking at a media briefing held at the Ministry premises on February 11.
A gym built for the public closed for an hour for the usage of a powerful minister
It has been decided to close an exercise centre built for the public for one hour daily for a powerful minister, and ministers name yet not revealed media reports. The gym was recently opened in response to a long-standing demand for a place for urban residents to exercise. However, the relevant Minister had instructed the Municipal Council, which controls the gym, to make arrangements so that no one else could come at the time of his arrival as he was exercising there. The Sri Lanka-Australia Twenty20 tournament begins today
The five-match Sri Lanka-Australia Twenty20 series begins today. The first match will be played in Sydney. A 20-member Sri Lanka squad has been named for the tournament. Dasun Shanaka is the leader of the team. Charith Asalanka has been appointed to the post due to the non-inclusion of vice captain Dhananjaya de Silva in the team. Danushka Gunetileke, who was released last month after being banned from playing cricket for a year after being accused of violating a bio-bubble during last year’s tour of England, has also been included in the squad. Romesh Ratnayake will also be the acting coach of the Sri Lankan team during the tour of Australia. Lasith Malinga is the strategic bowling coach of the Sri Lankan team. The second match between the two teams will be played in Sydney next Sunday. The third match will be played at Manuka Oval on the 15th and the fourth and fifth matches will be played on the 18th and 20th at Melbourne Stadium respectively.

Rape happend on a United Airlines flight from United States to Britain
Showing that women have no protection anywhere on earth as well as in the sky. A woman has been raped on a United Airlines flight from New Jersey to London in the United States overnight. Both the defendant and the woman had been traveling in business class. Defendant saw other passengers sleeping at night and forcibly had an affair with the woman. The suspect was arrested at the airport on the complaint of the woman. However, he was released on bail after initial questioning. The incident took place on January 31, but the media has now been informed about it. A New York Post report has confirmed this news.
