The $ 100 million worth F35-C fighter jet crashed while trying to take off from the USS Carl Vinson. Seven members of the ship were reported injured. In the event of such an accident in an international maritime area, the party that first finds and rescues it will have custody of it. The Americans have not made a clear statement on what steps will be taken to recover it.  The South China Sea is a region that has been the subject of international conflict. China says it owns it completely. But other world powers do not accept it. Abi Austen, a defense consultant, said the plane needed to be activated quickly to recover.
