The General Manager of Railways says that some office trains and all long distance trains have been canceled due to the strike.
However, the General Manager of Railways further stated that arrangements have been made to run 80 office trains.
The Station Masters’ Association has commenced a 24 hour token strike from midnight yesterday (12).
The President of the Railway Station Masters’ Association Sumedha Somaratne stated that the trade union action has been initiated based on several demands including the unannounced cancellation of long distance train services.
