Seventeen people were injured when a bus carrying a group of passengers overturned. The accident had taken place near the Galode bridge in Padiyathalawa.

Police stated that a private bus traveling from Kilinochchi to Kataragama was involved in the accident. The reason behind the accident was the driver was unable to control the bus, police said.

The injured have been admitted to the Mahaoya Hospital. The driver of the bus has been arrested in connection with the accident, police said.
