A fire at a Macdonald restaurant in Colombo

A fire has broken out at a private International chain restaurant (Macdonald) near the Sports Ministry in Colombo. According to the reports the fire broke out at around 5.30 am today (20). The fire caused severe damage to the building where the restaurant is located. The fire was reportedly caused by an explosion caused by a gas leak. The fire has been extinguished using 6 fire trucks belonging to the Colombo Municipal Council. Two persons have been slightly injured in a fire that broke out inside a restaurant at the sports complex in front of the Colombo Race Course, police said. Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that two youths who were staying in the parking lot in front of the building were slightly injured. The two went to the hospital and left after receiving treatment. The fire broke out in a restaurant downstairs in the old racetrack at the sports stadium this morning and is suspected to have been caused by an explosion caused by a gas leak. The fire brigade and the police took steps to control the fire in the building and the Government Analyst will inspect the location to ascertain the cause of the fire, the police spokesman said. The Cinnamon Gardens Police are conducting investigations under the SSP in charge of the Colombo South Division.
