A teacher who was participating in a teacher-principal protest has suddenly fallen ill and died. The teacher who participated in the teachers’ protest organized in front of Kotapola National College in Matara has fainted and fallen to the ground. She later died at the hospital. The deceased has been identified as a 27-year-old teacher of Deniyaya Central College who had previously undergone heart surgery. The hospital said she was reported dead at the time of admission. The Teachers ‘and Principals’ Trade Unions held several protests throughout the country today demanding solutions to the problems of teachers and principals.
Two individuals died in a accident happened in Jaffna-Kandy A-9 main road
Two youths were died when a motorcycle collided with a lorry in the Paranthan area in Kilinochchi on the Jaffna-Kandy A-9 main road, Kilinochchi Police said. The accident had taken place when a lorry was parked on the side of the A-9 main road at Paranthan Junction when it collided with the bike which was speeding. Preliminary police investigations have revealed that both the youths who arrived on the motorcycle had died. Police suspect that the accident had taken place due to the inability to control the speed of the motorcycle due to the rain. The deceased have been identified as 29-year-old U. Mahendrarasa and 34-year-old Saundanandan Kandeepan, both residents of Paranthan.
