Allowance of Rs. 5,000 will be given to low-income families

In addition to Samurdhi recipients, the government has decided to provide an allowance of Rs. 5,000 to low income families.

The Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera stated that the agreement was reached at the Cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (June 14).

Minister Mr. S.M Chandrasena said that the Cabinet also focused on controlling the price of rice.

Transport Minister Gamini Lokuge stated that no decision has been taken to increase bus fares despite the increase in fuel prices while speaking to the media after the Cabinet meeting.
