A statement is to be obtained from the Mayor of Kurunegala Thushara Sanjeewa regarding the celebration of his birthday despite the travel restrictions.

Police Media Spokesman Ajith Rohana stated that a statement will be obtained from the Mayor after the end of the process as he has been referred for quarantine.

He further stated that statements have already been recorded from eight persons including police officers regarding the incident.

The police spokesman further said that after obtaining statements from the mayor, he will be produced before court.
