An international survey has revealed that the spread of corona disease in Sri Lanka during the week ended Friday was 82%;Worldometers (WorlddoMeters) on Suprakata report. India, which has the highest number of reported cases, now has a rate (relative to its population) of 11%. It has the lowest patient growth in South Asia. The Maldives is the second largest corona country in South Asia after Sri Lanka. Its weekly growth rate is 69%. Bhutan also has the lowest corona growth rate in South Asia after India. Its weekly patient growth rate is 16%. The island nation of Peru has shown the highest corona outbreak growth in the world over the past week. Its patient growth rate is 500%.
Ethanol stock found on Southern Expressway
A person has been arrested in the Kasagala area on the Southern Expressway for transporting ethanol using forged documents. Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The lorry had entered the Southern Expressway at the Angunakolapelessa entrance and was being chased by police officers on the expressway. During a search police found 25 barrels of 5,000 liters of ethanol and the license issued for the transportation of ethanol was also found to be a forgery. The driver of the lorry was a 35 year old resident of the Thorana Junction area in Kelaniya.

Media Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella has stated that legal action will be taken shortly to suspend about 2 million accounts that have been identified as having no proper owners out of the total number of Facebook accounts in the country, according to media reports. About 76 lakhs of Sri Lankans are currently registered as users of the Facebook social media website. Meanwhile, we, the Information Technology Association of Sri Lanka, are amazed at the basis on which the Minister of Mass Media and Information states that about 2 million of those user accounts are accounts without proper ownership. A racket of selling ICU beds for critically ill patients for 27000 per day.
The Government Nurses’ Association states that there is a racket of selling intensive care beds to people suffering from corona infection.
