Central Bank bans Cryptocurrencies

Sri Lanka Association of Information Technology had issued a statement on February 2, 2021 under the headline of“Pyramid Business in Sri Lanka in the Name of Crypto Money ..! and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has responded to it on April 9. Following is the media statement issued by Information Technology Association Sri Lanka of Sri Lanka;In a press release issued by the Information Technology Association of Sri Lanka, we note that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has a role to play in the use of cryptocurrencies in Sri Lanka, the regulation of cryptocurrencies and the raising of public awareness on cryptocurrencies. The bank has taken steps to make the public aware of the use of “crypto currency” through a press release. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has not licensed or authorized any institution or company to take action on virtual currency or cryptocurrencies, including undeclared electronic money, and any institution may be required to generate crypto money through computers or exchange crypto currency on the Internet(Virtual Currency Exchanges). Hence, as the IT Association of Sri Lanka, we urge the public to be careful when investing in cryptocurrency based pyramid schemes. Police is conducting a special operation to arrest drunk drivers

A special operation is conducting to arrest drunk drivers on all roads accross the country including expressways from 12.00 noon today (April 18) to 6.00 am tomorrow (April 19); police media spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The Police Media Spokesman stated that 1834 drunk drivers have been arrested after a special operation of five days.

A new manager appointed for the Sri lankan cricket team for upcoming Bangladesh tour

Manuja Kariyapperuma has been appointed as the interim Manager of the Sri Lanka Cricket Team for the upcoming two test match series against Bangladesh; Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket Management Committee, Professor Arjuna de Silva said. India is running out of Covid-19 vaccines; The world’s biggest vaccine producer- second wave accelerates with a COVID Tsunami

Ealier the country signed on the global vaccine-sharing initiative program to provide discounted or free doses for lower-income countries. So they announced SII (The Serum Institute of India ) would manufacture up to 200 million doses for up to 92 countries under the initial agreement. But the situation in India is different than few months ago as Its second wave began in March and the country reported 217,353 new cases as its highest single-day figure so far on Friday. But vacccine supplies have strucked and struggling to provide vaccine on time, while at least five states reporting severe shortages of vaccine. To face this crisis the government and SII have decided to supplyvaccines to prioritizing their own citizens in the country“Deliveries of doses from the Serum Institute of India will be delayed in March and April,” said COVAX, which is run by a coalition including international vaccine organization Gavi and the World Health Organization, in a news release on March 25. “Delays in securing supplies of SII-produced Covid-19 vaccine doses are due to the increased demand for Covid-19 vaccines in India.”CNN

Liam Scarlett died: Former Royal Ballet choreographer

Liam Scarlett is one of the internationally-known choreographer in Royal Ballet has died at age of 35. He had left the Royal Ballet last year after claims of sexual misconduct.
