The identity of the female body found in a suitcase has been revealed, Suspects committed suicide

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said that the identity of the female body in the Dam street revealed today (March 3). The deseased women was a 30 years old was residenat Theppanawa area in Kuruwita. Because the head of the body was yet not founded police sends the remains of the body to DNA testing. The women had leaved the home saying that she is going for a pilgrimage in Sri Pada. Surveillance cameras showed the suspect was entering a rest house in Hanwella area along with a woman and later leaves with a huge suitcase. Police spokesperson states that the suspect is a Sub Inspector (SI) attached Buttala Police station. And he was on leave at the time of the murder. He had already run off to a nearby jungle area when police is arriving the suspects home. Also his wife has informed the police that he had written a letter about the incident and asking for the forgiveness. Later today morning ( March 3 ) police had found his body hanging on a tree in the nearby jungle. Also a poison bottle was recovered from the area. Investigators suspects he might have commited suicide over the case. Suspects love affair with the women said to be the motive behind this murder. A headless dead body was found inside a roadside in the Dam street in March 1 and police had done further investigations on the CCTV footages of the suspect. Later on March 2 they had found that the suspects who carried the suitcase tansported it from Hanwella to Colombo in a Hanwella-Pettah (143) bus. Police states that the bus driver and the conductor has revealed that a person carrying a suitcase got on to the bus from Hanwella. post-mortem examination will be conducted on the suspects body later today.

Sri Lanka records 318 new COVID 19 positive cases and covid 19 death troll is up from 7 today

Sri Lanka registered 318 more covid 19 infections today (March 2). This made country’s confirmed covid-19 cases count up to 83870 while total recoveries total recoveries in the country now stand at 80020. Also according to the Department of Government Information Sri lanka today has reported 7 more deaths related to COVID 19 and this made the total death count in to 483.

Sri lanka Air Force is celebrating its 70th Anniversary today

It is celebrating under the command of Sri lanka air force commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. The ceremony was held at SLAF Base Katunayaka today( March 2). This year Anniversary was celibrated with rich traditions which made it a vibrant ceromony The Sri lankan Air Force Established on March 2 in the year 1951 and it was firstly named as the Royal Ceylon Air Force. Then it renamed as Sri Lanka Air Force after country became a republic in 1972. Sri lankan air force named as “Guardians of the Skies” because of their contribution to the dawn of peace in the country. Sri lankan Air Force has commanded by 17 commanders during past 70 years of service. The celebration includes several events like aerobatics display, ceromonial fly past and awarding the President’s Colours to the No. 5 Fighter and No. 6 Helicopter Squadrons of the SLAF. 23 Indian Air Force (IAF) aircrafts and the Indian Navy arrived in Sri Lanka to participate in the ceromony showing friendly ties between the military of the two nations. They will take parts in grand scale Aerobatic Display and inthe display at the Galle Face accordingly.

West Container Terminal (WCT) development project got the approval

Sri lankan cabinet granted the approval for the development project of the West Container Terminal at the Colombo Port. An Indian and Japanese investors has joined the development project. The development plan has been sent to the High Commission of India and to the Embassy of Japan requesting to nominate investors. Still Japan haven’t nominated an investor and the Indian High Commission has given the approval to the proposal of the Adhani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited. Recommendations will be decided after discussion with both the parties. This is going to be a Public – Privert partnership for 35 years of development. Agreement with India and Japan to jointly develop the East Container Terminal was taken out month before.

A women has arrested for beating a child in Jaffna

The National Child Protection Authority had states that a women has been arrested for beating a child in Jaffna today March 02. The toddler had beaten at a house in the Ariyalai area in Jaffna. A video footage of the assaultation has being circulated in social medias and captured the attention of the National Child Protection Authority. Then the women was arrested and child was taken to police custody today. Ariyalai police is doing further investigations on the case.

Womens body abandoned in Dam street was Carried from Hanvella (CCTV footage)

A womens body had been stuffed in a suitcase and abandoned in the Dam Street Colombo yesterday (March 01) Police had found CCTV footages of the suspects who brought the dead body to the Dam street Pettah. Police reported that the man is wearing a face mask dragging the suitcase along the road and left it in the road side yesterday. After further investigations police had found today (March 2) that the suitcase was carried from Hanvella to Colombo in a privert bus. Police media spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana states that Police js conducting further investigations using CCTV footages of the suspects.

303 new covid 19 cases reported in Sri Lanka today

Ministry of Health confirmed that Sri lanka has reported 303 new Covid 19 positive cases today. This made Covid 19 positive count in the country to 83546 while 475 were recovered today itself. Also sri lanka has reported 5 more deaths related to Covid 19 and it made the death amount in to 476 total.

A Army bus collided with a train and two were injured.

A Military bus was strikes by Kandy-Colombo Fort express train at the Wanawasala railway crossing in Kelaniya today morning ( March 1). A lottery ticket seller and a person who came to buy tickets had critically injureds. Then they have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment. The eye witnessed explained that bus had attempted to cross the railway line ignoring active signal lights. Then it got strucked by speeding train andcrashed into nearby lottry ticket selling shop and to a house. It is reported that there were 3 children’s were inside the house that time. They had escaped when they saw the bus was coming. Peliyagoda policestation is doing further investigations on the case.

Brother assaulted 7 years old boy to dead in Kllinochchi

A 7 years old boy has died after assaulted by his 17 years old elder brother in Kilinochchi yesterday 28th February. It was reported that he was dead after he admitted to the Jaffna hospitle for further treatments. According to the post mortem child had died by a blunt force trauma after being attacked with a blunt weapon. The childs mother had kept the child at his uncle’s house and left to Batticaloa. Then the elder brother had accompanied the child to a constructional area outside the uncles resident. Later the child was found unconscious near the construction area and the elder brother was gone missing. Then the child was admitted to the Kilinochchi hospitle and transfered to th Jaffna hospitle later for further treatment. The Kilinochchi police is conducting further investigations on the case.

Tom Moody appointed as Sri Lanka’s Director of Cricket

Former Australia all rounder and one of sri lankas previous coach Tom Moody named as the new director of Sri Lanka cricket. His contracted period of three years is starting from today March 1. He has to undergo a Mandatory Assignment of 300 days during his contract period. He has to Analyse the future tour programs and taking decisions sbout domestic tournament structures as his duties. Also he has to take care of welfare of payers, coaching and education and skill developments.
