Sri lanka repoted five more deaths related to COVID 19

The Department of Government Information states that Sri Lanka has reported 05 more coronavirus related deaths and it has made bring the number of COVID-19 related deaths troll in Sri Lanka up to 489 in total. Also Sri lanka has registered 351 more covid positive cases during past 24 hours. It has made the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed to 84 577. The amount of total recoveries reported as 80836 with 399 more patients regained health. But 3257 positive people were under medical care in different selected hospitles accross the country.
Sri Lanka approves Russia’s Sputnik V

State Minister of Production Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana states that Russia’s Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine has been approved in Sri Lanka. Secretary to the State Ministry of Production Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Rohitha Uduwawla confirmed today( March 4) that the Government of Russia has agreed to provide 300000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccines to our country free of charge. National Medical Regulatory Authority of Sri Lanka has been granted the approval in sri lanka and it has proved 91.6% protection against SARS-CoV-2 in its last stage trial. Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) states that 39 countries has approved the Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine. The first and second doses are slightly different versions of the vaccine from each other. The vaccine can be stored between 2 and 8C at temperatures and two doses have to taken between 21 days of gap. According to the scientists this is benificial because the two different formulas in 2 doses can boost the immune system.
Four people were arrested for 6 million worth ice and Three areas has been identified as hub for drug distribution

Four suspects were arrested by Sri Lanka Navy with 01kg and 21mg of Ice (Crystal Methamphetamine). They were arrested during a operation led by North Central Naval Command in the Urumalai beach in Talaimannar on March 3 while trying to smuggle drugs in to the country via sea.The street value of the drugs believed to be around 6 million rupees Narcotic drugs which were package concealed in a fishing net was taken in to naval custody and later handed over to the Talaimannar Police for further leagal actions. Also Police Spokesman (DIG) Ajith Rohana states today after a special anti-narcotics operations conducted in Weligama, Imaduwa and Midigama areas as the police has identified as as the hub for the distribution of narcotics in south province.
Three Childrens were died after jumped in to a well along with their morther

Three Childrens aged 2, 5, an 8 were died after jumped in to a well along with their mother in an attempt to commit suicide. The incident happened in Ramanathapuram area in the Dharmapuram Police Division yesterday evening. The 2 year old child was saved by the residents of the area and admitted to the Killinochchi hospitle and later his death was reported at the hospital. Other two children( girl and a boy) were dead and their bodies were retrieved from the well by the police along with the residents in nearby area. The women was getting treatments at the Killinochchi hospitle.Police assuming that personal family problem can be the motive behind this suicide attempting.

Mother Who beat the nine months old child gave reasons for her actions

A 24 years old mother was arrested for assulting her 9 months old baby in Navaladi area jaffna yesterday (March 2) and baby was taken to police custody. Mother and child will kept in probationary care for 9th of March untill the forensic report on the babies injuries submited to the magistrate. Mother and baby had arrived sri lanka from Kuwait a month ago and she and her husbund was working there. Her husband is still working in Kuwait. Mother had confessed to the police that she is depressed because her husbund is not giving the money for living.
Guidelines for burial of COVID 19 victims finalized today

The Director-General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena states that the guidlines for burial of COVID 19 victims has been finalized and going to issue within today (March 3) Drafting guidlines for burial was happened 27 of February and also Dr. Gunawardena stated that day circular for burial will be issuing after the approval of task force on COVID-19 prevention and also after deciding the burial place. Yesterday Co Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella announced that Iranaitvu island in Kilinochchi has selected as the burial ground for COVID victims. Untill procedure for burial was finalized the dead bodies of the COVID victims will be kept in the cold storage.
Iranaitivu islands residents protest against burying COVID-19 victims

Co Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Keheliya Rambukwella revealed that Iranaitivu Island was chosen as the burial ground of COVID victims yesterday (March 2 ). Residents of Iranaitvu Island protesting against the government’s decision to bury COVID-19 victims bodies in their residential area today (March 3). Iranaitivu island is located in the Gulf of Mannar and part of Kilinochchi District. There are 108 families with 335 peoples live in the small island and none of them were reported COVID 19 positve yet.
The new cricket director “Tom Moodys” payment details revealed

Tom Moody is going to receive 200000 dollars per annum for 100 days work as the new new director of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). He started his duty from 01st March 2021 for a period of three years of contract.The 55 years old former Australian cricketer has previously served as Sri Lanka’s coach. The Technical Advisory Committee of the SLC recommended him to rebuild the sri lankas cricket. CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket Ashley De Silva states that Moody will add more value to Sri lanka Cricket as he has experience in the system.
