There was no agreement with the Government to import vehicles under qoutas : VIASL & VIAL

Vehicle Importers Association of Sri Lanka (VIASL) and the Vehicle Importers Association of Lanka (VIAL) condemed the media reports circulating on social media and news websites the Vehicleclaiming that the government and vehicle importers have reached an agreement to reimport vehicles under a specific quota. Both the associations issued a joint announcement denying the media reports today. According to VIASL President S.K. Gamage states that there was a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat today with the with President’s Secretary P.B. jayasundara but there wasn’t any discussion about a quota system to resume vehicle imports. Mr. Gamage further said that considering the current economic situation in the country they had never thought of appealing to the Government to grant a permissions for importing vehicles.
12 editions of the Hindu encyclopedia launched

Hindu Encyclopedia that including all the details about the Hindu religion and its practices were launched by Prime Minister. There were 12 editions of the books. They includes information about hindu religion paractices oaround the globe. It was compiled by experts from the Hindu religion. Chancellor of the University of Jaffna Professor S. Pathmanathan headed the project.

Principal arrested for sexually abusing student

It was reported that a 16 years old male student from Opanayaka area had sexualy assaulted by a principal. The suspected principal was arrested according to a complaint filed to the police by students farther. childs farther claimed that child was assulted on March 3rd during school hours and he had returned to home mentally affected on multiple occasions. Later the students parents had found that child was sexually abused and reported it to the police. He was admitted to the Balangoda base hospitle later. The suspected principal was produced before the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court today( March 9.)
MP Rajakaruna recieved a Inquiry over selfie with Ranjan in prison

The Prison official who permitted Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Harsha Rajakaruna to take selfies with imprisoned SJB MP Ranjan Ramanayake were commenced an inquiry. MP Rajakarunsa had visited Angunukolapelessa Prison yesterday to see the well-being of the MP Ramanayake. He had taken a selfie with MP Ramanayaka there and posted it on his personal Facebook account. The Prison Official who was in charge at the time of MP Rajakaruna’s visit were received an inquiry by State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoners’ Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte. State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoners’ Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte has state that Harshana Rajakaruna had violated his Parliamentary privileges by taking the selfie with MP Ramanayake. A complaint against Harshana Rajakaruna will be filed regard to Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

It shows that people who have been infected with the new virus are more likely to be neutralized after receiving the vaccine. Scientists said that the ability of the Pfizer vaccine’s to neutralize the new strain of the COVID 19 virus that is spreading in Brazil, will have a positive effect on the spread of other COVID 19 strains around the world.

Switzerland has approved a referendum banning the wearing of niqab and burqa in all public places. The places includes streets, government offices, public transport services. These include restaurants, shops, and the countryside. Despite of 51.21% of the electorate supporting the motion the Amnesty International has criticized the outcome saying this as an an anti-Muslim decision.
Sri lanka Beat the South Affrica by 8 Wickets

In Road Safety World Series Sri lankan legends beat the South African legends by 8 wickets. The match was held in Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. The sri lankan team was chasing 90 runs and achived it only after loosing one wicket. Tillakratne Dilshan top scored with an unbeaten 50 runs . Upul Tharanga supported him with an unbeaten 27. After winning this Sri lanka qualified for the semi finals of the Road Safety World Series.
Schools will reopen for students in Western Provice

Grade 5, Ordinary Level and Advance Level classes in the Western province will be reopen from 15 th March.Education Minister states that the government schools in all the provinces will be reopen in next Monday. He said this at a press conference today morning .( March 8) Also he said to the Health Services Director General to convey his recommendations within two days in order to reopen of schools in the Western Province with other provinces. A media spokesman to the Education Minstry states that the Health Services Director General now granting permission to open Grade 5, Ordinary Level & Advance Level classes in the Western province.
