Vinodhan, who is suspected to be the current leader of the Awa gang in Jaffna, was arrested and one of the gang members was seriously injured in a clash between the gang members on the night of the 1st, Jaffna Police said. 

Four persons  came on two motorcycles attacked a passerby near the Marudanamadam Pola in Jaffna on the night of the 1st and the person admitted him to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital with serious injuries.

 Police suspect that the attack may have been carried out by members of the gang because of the suspect that a member of the same gang had tipped off the police to arrest the leader of the Awa gang
