Nagananda goes to court against A / L Timetable

 A written petition has been filed in the Court of Appeal seeking an order suspending the implementation of the timetable issued by the Commissioner-General of Examinations for the GCE Advanced Level Examination.  The petition has been filed by the Secretary of the Transparent Front Nagananda Kodithuwakku. The 2021 GCE Advanced Level Examination is scheduled to begin on February 7. The petitioner alleges that schools across the country were closed for a considerable period due to the covid epidemic, which caused a great loss to the education of the students. He points out that even the syllabus could not be completed properly. Due to this, the Ministry of Education and the Secretary to the Ministry of Education have rejected the recommendation given to the government by the National Institute of Education that students should be given 20 weeks before the GCE Advanced Level Examination, said Nagananda Kodithuwakku.  He further requested the court to issue an order to the Minister of Education and the Secretary to the Ministry to give students 20 weeks prior to the relevant examination.

A special revelation about covid patients who have been hospitalized

Dr Upul Dissanayake, Physiotherapist at the Colombo National Hospital says that the current situation in the country is like a tsunami. This was stated by Dr Upul Dissanayake at a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau today (28).  He further stated that covid patients who are currently hospitalized are not the only ones who have been hospitalized due to covid.

The world’s most fascinating black diamond

A black diamond weighing 555.55 carats has been put up for auction.  It’s called the Enigma. Bidding for the auction will take place from February 3 to 9, and cryptocurrencies can also be used. Sotheby’s, the company that organized the auction, said it was the largest black diamond ever put up for auction. It was listed in the Guinness World Records in 2006 as the largest polished diamond. Covid death records in Australia rise to high

 Australia today (28) recorded the highest number of covid deaths in a single day.  The international media reported that the number of covid deaths reported today was close to 100.  But some provinces said the impact of the covid would lessen in the coming weeks. About 2 million cases of corona infection have been reported in the country in the last four weeks due to the omicron variant.  But in just two years, the country had identified only 400,000 infected people. As of noon today, there had been 98 deaths, and 3,500 deaths have been reported from Australia so far. To date, 40,000 cases of covid have been reported. But it’s the lowest daily number of covid cases reported in the past month.

China also fights to capture the powerful American plane that crashed into the sea

 The F35-C is one of the most technologically advanced fighter aircraft in the United States.  The fighter jet recently crashed in the international region of the South China Sea and sank. The pilot jumped out of the plane and survived. But now it is reported that the US Navy has launched a special operation to rescue the plane from the Chinese army. The Americans suspect that Chinese scientists will try to unravel the technical secrets of the spacecraft if it is recovered by the Chinese military. The $ 100 million worth F35-C fighter jet crashed while trying to take off from the USS Carl Vinson. Seven members of the ship were reported injured. In the event of such an accident in an international maritime area, the party that first finds and rescues it will have custody of it. The Americans have not made a clear statement on what steps will be taken to recover it.  The South China Sea is a region that has been the subject of international conflict. The government has decided to develop the Galle Port as a port city

The government has decided to develop the Galle Port as a port city. The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) yesterday briefed investors in this regard. Addressing the conference, Ports Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said that a new breakwater would be constructed near the Galle Port.
