Russia is going to start direct fuel supply to Sri Lanka- The Russian Embassy

The Russian Embassy in Colombo has stated that it is considering Sri Lanka’s request for fuel from Russia. A spokesman for the Russian embassy said it had already inquired about the possibility of obtaining oil from Russia and was considering it. The spokeswoman also said that reports that the Russian ambassador had discussed the matter with the Minister of Energy were untrue.

No financial support to Sri Lanka until formulating a specific macroeconomic policy framework- The world bank

The World Bank says it plans to provide financial assistance to Sri Lanka after formulating a specific macroeconomic policy framework. The economic crisis in Sri Lanka -Fuel Prices increased again

Ceypetco has increased fuel prices with effect from 3.00 am today (24). Accordingly, the price of 92-litre octane petrol has been increased by Rs. 82 and the new price is Rs. 420. A litre of 95 octane petrol costs Rs. 77 and the new price is Rs. 450. A litre of auto diesel has been increased by 111 rupees. Accordingly, the new price of a litre of auto diesel is Rs. 400. The new price of a litre of premium diesel is 445 rupees while the price of a litre of premium diesel has been increased by 116 rupees. Minister Kanchana Wijesekara says Cabinet also approved the revision of transportation and other service charges accordingly. The formula will be applied every fortnight or monthly. Accordingly, the chairman of all Island Private bus owners association Gamunu Wijerathne saids Bus fares will be increased by 25% – 30% by the fuel price increase. Also, he stated that the new bus fares will be announced today. Also, the Chairman, of the All Island three-wheelers union Stated Three-wheeler fares for the first kilometre will be increased to Rs. 100 and each additional kilometre will cost Rs.80 Meanwhile, the Power and Energy Minister stated that supplying fuel for vehicles was amended again. So accordingly for a motorbike Rs. 2,500, Three Wheelers Rs 3,000 and other vehicles Rs. 10,000 with effect from today.

The Sri lankan oil monopoly refuses to buy curd oil from Russia

The chairman of Russia’s Kazani Oil Company has offered to supply crude oil to Sri Lanka, but the Sri Lankan government has not paid attention. Thirty-five Russian oil tankers carrying .9 million barrels of oil have now arrived in the Suez Canal. Russia’s Ugralp oil production has risen to 313,000 barrels a day, and Russia has been unable to sell oil. Russian oil tankers could soon reach the port of Colombo from the Suez Canal, but it has been revealed that Sri Lanka is still pushing for oil purchases from the Middle East. “The business network that supplied crude oil to Sri Lanka is not allowing Russia to sell oil to cheap. This oil monopoly will continue to operate, ”sources said.

A new record from Parachute Champions

Sri Lanka Army Parachute Champions who even won gold medals at the British Army Parachute Association parachute track in Netheravon, England.  At a parachute training session held at the Uhana Air Force Base in Ampara, for the first time in Sri Lanka, 11 parachutes (canopies) were lined up in the air and parachute performances showcased their bravery and prowess to the world. Sri Lanka Army paratroopers added a new lease of life to the parachute dynasty by parachuting high into the air at the Uhana air bases.

No power cut because of the O/L examination

The Public Utilities Commission states that there will be no power cuts due to the GCE Ordinary Level Examination today and the 29th of May. Fuel price increased again?

The United Trade Union Confederation (UTUC) says the government plans to increase fuel prices next week. Its convener Ananda Palitha states that the CPC now has sufficient stocks of diesel, petrol and kerosene. However, he said that the oil stocks were being issued in a limited manner in the hope of raising oil prices next week. He added that there would be no fuel shortage until mid-June. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that in some areas, the organized group is blocking the bowsers transporting fuel and forcing them to land at the nearest petrol station.  They also threatened to set fire to the browser if it did not land, the Minister said. If these groups continue to do so, the distribution of fuel will have to be suspended for the safety of fuel transport workers, he added.
