The brutal murder of a minor

A youth was hacked to death with a piece of glass in Kadawatha.  The incident took place at a house in the Andrews Lane area in Kadawatha The youth succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Ragama Hospital The police stated that the murder had taken place due to a dispute that had arisen in a rented room in the Kadawatha area yesterday (22nd) morning. The deceased has been identified as a 20 year old resident of Gonahena. It has been revealed that the murder took place due to a love affair.  The 19-year-old suspect was arrested in the Kadawatha area along with a piece of glass, police said. The minor girl was staying in the rented room.  It has been said that the young man had carried out the deadly attack after seeing her with her ex-boyfriend. The deceased has been identified as Raju Madushanka, a resident of Gonahena, Kadawatha. It is reported that she had resumed the relationship after seeing her first boyfriend at a musical show held in Kadawatha last night.  The two then arrived at the boarding house where she was staying. Upon hearing about this, the youth who had committed the murder had arrived at the house where she was staying at around 3 in the morning. The incident has witnessed the incident that she was with her ex boyfriend and the attack was carried out. It has been revealed that the minor girl had escaped from probation and stayed in a rented room. The youth arrested in connection with the incident has confessed to the police about the manner in which the murder took place.

 Relatives allege that Lalith Chaminda Hettige, an inmate detained at the Kadurugasara outdoor work camp in Embilipitiya, has been beaten to death. However, a prison spokesman said that an investigation had been launched into the incident by an Assistant Superintendent of Prison Intelligence. Lalith Chaminda Hettige, a resident of Kananke Kandewatta, Matara was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labour in March last year. The sentence was handed down by the Matara Magistrate’s Court on a charge of stealing Rs. 10,000. He was later transferred to the Kadurugasara outdoor work camp in Embilipitiya.  Accordingly, his relatives went to the outdoor camp to see Chaminda on the 2nd of December. Chaminda had told his daughter about the bitter experience he had at the outdoor camp. Dilani Manjula, daughter of Lalith Chaminda, “Too much work, dear.  They said If you gave money,  will receive less work.” Then Dilani Manjula had received a call from a prison official on the 9th.Dilani Manjula – “An officer called and gave it to my father and he told me that he would take a call again tonight. There is no need to take a call tonight I’m afraid the family will fall apart. “  Meanwhile, on the 10th, Dilani had received a call on her mobile phone from an unknown number.  Dilani Manjula – “I did not hear my father speak slowly. You will not have to see me again daughter .. Line was cut off after saying that.” Then Chaminda’s relatives were shocked to learn that he had fled the camp three days after his father’s call. Dilani Manjula – “Various reasons were given. Later Kananke called the police and said that my father was dead. I went to the hospital. My father was killed like a dog.” The daughter alleges that her father was beaten to death. Dilani Manjula – “farther had told the higher officials the way people used to bring heroin and cigarettes inside. So he was killed. I saw Dad’s soles bleeding and blue. Do justice to my father.”

Scholarship Examination Results releasing date

The Grade Five Scholarship Examination for the year 2021, which was postponed on several occasions due to the Kovid epidemic, was held yesterday (22). Meanwhile, the Commissioner General of Examinations L.M.D. Mr. Dharmasena stated that he hopes to release the results of the scholarship examination very soon.  Accordingly, he expressed the hope that the results of the scholarship examination could be released before the Sinhala New Year in April.

A young man is stripped naked and assaulted

A young man was stripped naked and assaulted by a married couple. It is from Siyambalanduwa area. The Siyambalanduwa Police had conducted investigations into the incident and arrested the couple and produced them before court. It is reported that they have said that the assault was due to the young man receiving frequent phone calls to his wife.

Two other parliamentarians have been diagnosed with the covid-19 virus

Two other parliamentarians have been diagnosed with the covid-19 virus. It has been reported that two Sri Lanka People’s Front MPs Sarathi Dushmantha and Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda have been infected with the virus.  MP Sarathi Dushmantha was also present at the sitting yesterday. In the last four days alone, four parliamentarians have been infected with the covid-19 virus.

The latest form of theft and robbery

Yakkala Police have arrested a man and a woman for stealing property including Pinketa at religious places. The suspects were arrested in the Balummahara area in Yakkala and investigations have revealed that they were involved in several such robberies at religious places in the Yakkala and Ganemulla areas.  Police seized the stolen property including brass lamps and a stock of cash. The arrested suspects are residents of Ragama and Imbulgoda areas and are to be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate’s Court, police said.

The deadline for applications for the 2021 GCE Ordinary Level Examination has been extended. 100 killed in air strike

An airstrike on a detention center in Yemen has killed at least 100 people and injured dozens more. The Saudi-led coalition launched the airstrikes yesterday (21), according to foreign reports. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a Houthi rebel stronghold. Foreign media point out that the Arab League has been carrying out attacks since 2015 targeting active insurgents in Yemen. At least 10,000 civilians, including children, have been killed in the attacks, according to foreign reports.

840 covid infected identified in the country

The Ministry of Health states that 840 covid infections have been identified yesterday (21). Health officials warns people that there will be a covid 19 wave in the near future. Also, they inform the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Accordingly, the total number of infected persons identified in the country has increased to 600,203.
