Sri lanka received 200 million dollars financial assistance from Bangladesh

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has approved the provision of financial assistance requested by Sri Lanka from Bangladesh. Accordingly, Sri Lanka will receive financial assistance of US $ 200 million. The request was made during a recent visit by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. Sri Lanka is currently facing a major foreign exchange crisis. Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange reserves stood at $ 4 billion in March. Bangladesh currently holds about $ 45 billion in foreign reserves.

The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association has decided to withdraw from corona control duties in the Western Province. The union says the decision was made in protest of the corona vaccine being given only to family members of doctors. The secretary of the union also said that they were opposed to giving the corona vaccine only to the families of the doctors while the ground level employees of the health service were at great risk. Accordingly, they said they would step down from corona control duties in the Western Province today.
