Sri Lankas First Burial of Covid 19 Victims

Two burials were conducted in Soodupaththinachenai area in Ottamwadi, Batticaloa in the Eastern Province today ( March 5). Army Commander General Shavendra Silva states that five more burials are scheduled to be conducted at the same site today. This is the second burial place approved by the government and Oddamavadi Divisional Secretary announced the granted permission. Also Irakkamam in Ampara was proposed as a burial ground. Acording to the former State Minister Ali Zahir Moulana both of those Pradeshiya Sabha s had expressed their willingness to allocate lands for burial of COVID 19 victims remains. Burials will be coordinated with the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Institute of Geology. Local authorities and community representatives will join the process.

Ramanna and Amarapura Maha Nayaka Thero’s recived the Final report of the Easter attacks commission

Harigupta Rohanadeera Director General of Legal Affairs of the Presidential Secretariat handed over the Copies of the report of Presidential Commission of Inquiry of Easter Sunday Attacks to the Chief Prelate of the Amarapura and Ramanna chapters. Chief Prelate of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Chapter Most Venerable Makulawe Wimala thera and Acting Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Chapter Most Venerable Gangthune Assaji thera recived the copies today( March 5).

Sachithra Senanayake ordered to submit assets and liabilities statement

Former cricketer Sachithra Senanayake ordered to submit a statement of assets and liabilities within 14 days by the police unit in charge of prevention of malpractices in sports. Yesterday ( March 4 ) he appeared before the Special Crime Prevention Unit over an alleged f match fixing attempt in the 2020 Lanka Premier League T20 tournament. He had given a 8 hour of statements according to the reports.He was accused over a media report for approaching a player through a phone call from Dubai to entice in to corrupt practice in the inaugural LPL tournament. ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) and the Sri Lanka Cricket’s anti corruption unit investigated on the complaint. Further investigations will be carried out according to the assets and liabilities.

Jornalist Bandula Jayasekara has passed away

Jornalist Bandula Jayasekara has passed away Veteran journalist Mr Bandula Jayasekara has passed away. He was 60 years of age and was receiving treatment for a chronic disease at the time of his demise. He was the Chief Editor of Daily News and also he worked for The Island and Sunday Leader . He served as a journalist diplomat representing Sri Lanka in Canada, the U S and Australia.

China pledged continue to support Sri Lanka

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Luo Shaohui states that China is Supporting to Sri lanka at United Nations Human Rights Council. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Luo Shaohui said that China will provide assistant to manage and control COVID 19 and also they are going to support the government to develop the tourism industry again in Sri lanka. He made these statements on the official Twitter account of the Sri Lankan embassy in Beijing and that was made during a meeting with Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Dr Palitha kona on Monday. Also they echanged their views on Sino- Sri lanka Free Trade Agreement. China had also expressed their support to Sri lanka during the 46th session of UNHRC in Geneva.And also the Chinese representative to the 46th session of UNHRC states that they sees the resolutions against Sri lanka as a it is an interference to the internal affairs of the country.

Sri lanka repoted five more deaths related to COVID 19

The Department of Government Information states that Sri Lanka has reported 05 more coronavirus related deaths and it has made bring the number of COVID-19 related deaths troll in Sri Lanka up to 489 in total. Also Sri lanka has registered 351 more covid positive cases during past 24 hours. It has made the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed to 84 577. The amount of total recoveries reported as 80836 with 399 more patients regained health. But 3257 positive people were under medical care in different selected hospitles accross the country.
