There will be an island-wide protest against Major General Mohan Rathnayake

Due to not a receiving response to a recent complaint lodged with the Habarana Police regarding Major General Mohan Ratnayake and other Army personnel who obstructed the duties of wildlife officers on duty at the Minneriya National park, wildlife officers islandwide will engage in a token trade union action on 02.07.2021, The President of the All Ceylon Wildlife Officers’ Association Prabhash Karunatilake stated

Prabhash Karunatilake said in a special statement to the media that while the wildlife officers following the suspects, who were hiding in the Minneriya reserve regarding the abduction of an elephant calf, had driven away from the reserve without following orders and Major General Mohan Rathnayake obstructed the duties of his officers by misusing military uniforms and uniforms.

Although a complaint was lodged with the Habarana Police regarding the incident, the trade unions have decided to take action as no action has been taken about the complainant so far.
