New corona cluster occur from Mawanella
About 78 out of 100 PCR tests in the Mawanella area have been identified as infected,MP Kabir Hashim said. He also alleged that a cluster of more than 700 infected people had been identified in the area. However, the Divisional Secretary and the District Secretaries have not closed the area saying that they do not have the power to close the area. The MP told parliament that there was a risk of further spread of the situation.

Another 07 Grama Niladhari Divisions have been isolated from 6 this morning. Army Commander Shavendra Silva said the move was aimed at curbing the spread of corona infections. The Grama Niladhari Divisions that have been closed down are as follows.
The martial art Angampora will be uplift as a sport – Namal Rajapaksa
Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs states that he hopes to uplift the martial art of Angampora as a sport and promote it throughout the country and the world. He also says that the ‘Angampora’ martial art of the country has been secretly active since it was banned during the colonial period. He has stated this in a post on his social media account after a discussion with local Angampora artists.
Basil Rajapaksa has returned to Sri Lanka.
The National Organizer of the Sri Lanka People’s Front, former Minister Basil Rajapaksahas returned to Sri Lanka. He has been on a private visit to the United States for more than a month. Several backbenchers of the Sri Lanka People’s Front have stated that they will discuss the reduction of fuel prices which has been increased with his arrival in the country. Several parliamentarians have publicly stated that fuel prices would not have been increased if Basil Rajapaksa had been in the country.
Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva has been released on a presidential pardon.
Duminda Silva, who was pardoned by the President, had recently been released from prison,Prison media spokesman Chandana Ekanayake confirmed. He was sentenced to death by the High Court in September 2016 for the murder of former parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.

Former parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who has been jailed since 2016, is likely to be released today (24) following a Presidential pardon. According to the Dilitha Jayaweera owned ‘The Morning’, legal sources have said that the necessary arrangements for the release have been completed. Silva was jailed in September 2016 after the Colombo High Court found him and several others guilty in the murder of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
