Imran Khan visits Sri Lanka

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Sri Lanka today on an official 2-day State visit. Prime Minister Khan is visiting Sri Lanka on an invitation extended by Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa. Both the Sri Lanka and Pakistan Prime Ministers will together preside over an event to sign several mutually beneficial bilateral Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today, following their official talks at the Temple Trees. During his visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend bilateral meetings with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, while several other high-level engagements have also been planned, including a Business and Investment Forum, as well as a sports diplomacy initiative. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s itinerary for the Sri Lanka visit is as follows; 23rd February 4.15  PM – Arrival 6.00 PM – Meeting PM Mahinda Rajapaksa 6.30 PM – Joint statement with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa 24th February 10.30 am  – Meeting President Gotabaya Rajapaksa 11.00 am – Business Investment Summit 12.30 PM – Lunch hosted by Speaker & Sports Minister 3.00 PM – Leaving Sri Lanka

Vehicle import ban to continues

Sri Lanka’s ban on vehicle imports will remain until the end of 2021, state minister of capital market Ajith Nivard Cabraal has said. He added that the decision to impose the import ban on vehicles will be reviewed by the end of this year. The government, in March 2020, decided to suspend the importation of vehicles, as an economic revival measure amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
